The goal of The Foundation for Nutrition and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases in Children (NIBD) is to foster research into the clinical significance of nutrition in the management of IBD, and to educate patients in the importance of adhering to a nutritional protocol that has now been well demonstrated to be extremely beneficial for the well being of juvenile IBD patients.
In Support of NIBD
About The Partnership
Guided by the need to advance research in nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease, NIBD formed a partnership with Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC). This partnership with Columbia University advanced the trust and integrity of innovative nutrition research in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The NIBD/CUMC partnership was instrumental in confirming the significant relationship between nutrition and the health and well-being of those afflicted with inflammatory bowel diseases. Owing to the national financial crisis adversely affecting nutrition research, the pediatric metabolic program, which sponsored this research, was unfortunately discontinued. NIBD will continue to provide patients and families affected by IBD with the opportunities for nutrition education and support so vitally essential for an improved quality of life.
